To set up email archiving that meets the requirements of the German Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GoBD), further non-technical and organizational measures beyond the software itself are absolutely necessary. Specifically, suitable procedural documentation that complies with the GoBD requirements must be created. This procedural documentation will not be discussed further in this installation guide or in this wiki.

Due to frequent misunderstandings regarding product certifications of email archiving solutions, we would like to point out that product certifications of email archiving solutions are legally invalid (see GoBD, 12. Certification and Software Attestations, sections 179 and 181). Even if they exist, they do not replace suitable process documentation. Suitable process documentation, in turn, is mandatory for GoBD-compliant email archiving (see GoBD, 10.1 Process Documentation, sections 151-153).
