Benno MailArchive Plugin for Kopano

### Technical support for this ###

### Plugins will end on December 31, 2023 ###

The Benno MailArchiv plugin for Zarafa/Kopano allows you to access emails archived in Benno MailArchiv within the Kopano web app. The plugin seamlessly integrates email search functionality into both the Kopano web app and the desktop app.

System requirements:

  • Benno Core from 2.2.5 / Benno Rest from 2.2.5
  • from Kopano Webapp 3.0 onwards
  • from Zarafa Webapp 2.0

installation

The plugin is installed on the Kopano server via the package manager. If Benno and Kopano are running on separate servers, the Benno package sources must also be configured on the Kopano system.

apt-get install benno-kopano-webapp-plugin

During installation, the server address and port of the Benno REST API, as well as the container in which the emails are stored, are entered.

  • Serveradresse: Bspw. http(s)://
  • Benno Container: e.g., BennoContainer.
This is the default setting. If you have configured multiple containers in Benno MailArchiv, please enter the relevant container name here. (In the current version, only the container specified here is usable.)

After installing the plugin, users of the Zarafa/Kopano WebApp should log out and then log back in.

Plugin activation

  • Log out of the Zarafa/Kopano web app and log back in.
  • In the web app, under Settings → Plugins, activate the "Benno" plugin (please reload the page after being prompted).

configuration

User-specific configuration

In the Zarafa/Kopano WebApp, under Settings in the left-hand bar, click on the (new) menu item "Benno" and enter the following values:

  • Serveradresse: Bspw. http(s)://
  • Benno Container: e.g., BennoContainer.
This is the default setting. If you have configured multiple containers in Benno MailArchiv, please enter the relevant container name here. (In the current version, only the container specified here is usable.)
  • Einträge: Anzahl Treffer je Seite
    nach eigenem Geschmack einstellbar.

If a user manually changes (or adds) the server address and other settings in their web app settings, this change takes precedence over the system-wide default settings in the settings.ini file. The settings.ini file then no longer applies to that user.

User authentication

The user in Benno MailArchiv must have the same login credentials as the user in Zarafa/Kopano. For example, if the user Meier logs into Benno MailArchiv with the credentials "meier:password", the same login credentials must also be valid for Zarafa/Kopano (in this case, "meier:password"). This is automatically ensured if Benno MailArchiv and Zarafa/Kopano use the same authentication source (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP, etc.).

Nutzung in Zarafa/Kopano
